Australian stocks rise at close of trade

On Tuesday, Australian stocks traded higher, as revenues in the Energy, Resources as well as Materials sectors led stocks up.

The S&P/ASX 200 managed to earn 0.10%, thus hitting a new 1-month peak.

The best performers of the trading session on the S&P/ASX 200 included Galaxy Resources Ltd, rising 14.06%, Henderson Group PLC, ascending 11.56% and Flexigroup Ltd soaring 5.96%.

As for the worst performers, here we should point out to Reliance Worldwide Corporation with its 3.16% fall, Southern Cross Media Group Ltd with its 3.15% decline and Northern Star Resources Ltd with its3.02% descend.

On the Australia Stock Exchange ascending shares outperformed declining ones by 549 to 515, while 292 remained intact.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, measuring the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, headed south 6.99%, hitting 13.618.

The currency pair AUD/USD was down 0.05%, trading at 0.7674. At the same time, AUD/JPY edged up 0.50%, trading at 78.45.
