Australian shares head north at close

On Monday, Australian stocks traded higher after the close as profits in the A-REITs, Consumer Discretionary as well as Telecoms Services sectors brought shares higher.

The S&P/ASX 200 earned 0.25% at the close in Australia.  

The best performers of the trading session on the S&P/ASX 200 included Ansell Ltd with its (18.15% rise at 23.240, Mesoblast Ltd with its 12.38% at 1.815 and JB Hi-Fi Ltd, rising 9.86% at 30.080.

As for the worst performers of the trading session, we should point out to Aurizon Holdings Ltd with its  6.20% slump at 4.690, Sandfire Resources NL with its 5.90% fall at 5.420 and Western Areas Ltd, which sank 4.28%, being worth 2.795.

Soaring shares outperformed dipping ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 569 to 494, while 366 remained intact.

Stocks of Ansell Ltd leapt to 52-week peaks, surging 18.15% at 23.240. Shares of JB Hi-Fi Ltd ascended to all time peaks, soaring 9.86% at 30.080.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, measuring the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, rose 1.61%, hitting 12.612.
