China internet regulator will clean up online comments

China’s Internet regulator has already launched a new campaign in order to clean up the comments sections on websites for the purpose of preventing the further spread of harmful information and to support what it considers to be more positive.

The Chinese government has been providing widespread controls over the Internet. Furthermore, this Asian country has made a series of attempts to codify the given policy in Law.

In Tuesday’s statement, the Cyberspace Administration of China informed that the major purpose of that crackdown on comments sections was to tackle some outstanding problems.

Ren Xianliang, deputy head of the administration revealed the government’s intention to execute a massive cleanse of the comments sections and also make it easier for Internet users to report harmful and illegal content.

He added that Chinese authorities want to raise a positive, healthy Internet culture.
